If you’re an American or a foreigner in America, then you’re probably gearing up for Thanksgiving, our national holiday supposedly celebrating the feast of peace between the pilgrims and the native Americans. This was of course, the same pilgrims that killed the king and wiped out the indigenious people of North America.

Let’s let go of that tradition yes?

Instead, I propose that we have a day to be thankful for the people and things in our lives right here and now. That could mean a traditional dinner with family, turkey in the oven and pumpkin pie. Or, one of my favorite Thanksgivings was spent at my apartment alone with a pizza and a stack of movies. It was restful and easy. I did include pumpkin pie though. Whatever you do, include pumpkin pie if you can. :)

But as with Things I Love Thursday, the reason these traditions and movements become so popular is that it gives us a moment where we are allowed to reflect on our week, take stock of that which is good and is working, and simply acknowledge it. I think it’s great to take part in every week, and this Thursday should be no exception, but instead I propose that we take it up a notch. No matter what country you’re in or from, take your TILT list this week and really celebrate it, with friends, family, or all by yourself with a movie and pie. Make sure that you know what you’re thankful for this week, this month, and this year, because the year is going to be over soon enough so be in the moment while you can.

I, for one, am thankful for everyone who has read FnF, commented, emailed me, or Twittered me about it. It makes writing here everyday an absolute delight. There will be no TILT from me tomorrow, as I will be cooking massive amounts of food with friends here in Los Angeles, and I hope you’ll take the day, wherever you are, to eat some good food, be around those you love, and enjoy the holiday.
