About Freya
Conceived in Italy and raised by gypsy bandits, I lived in six states before my family planted in Tennessee. After a stint in South Africa, I came to Chicago five years ago and am surprised that I’ve been able to stay in one place for so long. I’m currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee with my husband-to-be Keith R. Potempa.
I spend my play time browsing old bookstores whilst sneaking sips of whiskey from my hip flask.
On days off you can find me hard-not-at work on my novella, practicing my burlesque routines, attempting to play the musical saw, or pretending to be crafty. I drink exotic beer and cheap wine and smoke my hookah on special occasions. I dream of owning a dirigible by age fifty.
I’m an experienced writer and editor, running from reporter to columnist to layout to copy editing. My work has appeared in the Huffington Post, Advertising Age Magazine, Chicagoist, Echo Magazine, Examiner, and Bridge Magazine among others. Most recently I was employed as an acquisitions and managing editor for Publications International, the fifth largest publisher in the nation. Now I write freelance and make chocolate for a living. If you’re interested in hiring me, email me and let’s discuss your project!
